PEOPLE who have never used computers before are being offered a chance to get online, just in time to do some Christmas shopping.
Silver Surfers, which helps people who have never used computers, will be running a once a week class at Redditch Library from December 4 until January 22 next year.
The classes, free to attend, are designed with the over 55s in mind, but also caters for all age groups.
It covers basic computer tasks, how to use the internet, and how to use email.
It is hoped people will use the skills to keep touch with family, surf the internet to pursue interests, or get information.
Bill Deavall, director of Silver Surfers, said: "What's great about these courses is that it gives many people basic computer skills and a new interest in life that they didn't have before.
“Many older people can feel isolated in their own community, and these classes help this age group in particular communicate better online."
Teresa Jordan, from Redditch Library added: "It makes it really worthwhile to know that the skills learned are making a real difference to people's quality of life. These sessions give them confidence to learn the basics and make better use of the great facilities on offer here in our local community."
