REDDITCH MP Karen Lumley has backed a new engineering training academy based in the town.
Heartbeat UK, a design and manufacturing company specialising in retail display innovation, recently opened a 16-week programme which provides introductory skills and work experience in the engineering field to people aged 16 to 21.
The course, which is run in conjunction with the Heart of Worcestershire College, aligns industry specific training with English and Maths and also boasts progression and full apprenticeship opportunities.
The company’s vision is to support the next generation of workforce through a tailored and industry specific approach to training and development.
Mrs Lumley recently visited the centre based Arthur Street, Lakeside.
"This scheme helps young people get their feet into a profession, and it has my full backing," she said.
"It is great to see a respected manufacturing company taking the initiative and helping to producing trainees with the qualifications needed in the town."
