A REDDITCH school finance officer has appeared on ITV’s The Chase.

Ellen Stewart, of Oakenshaw South, appeared on the quiz show on Thursday, November 19 answering four correct answers to face The Beast, Mark Labbett.

But unfortunately she was caught and crashed out of the show before getting to the final chase, where just two contestants remained.

When asked how she would spend her winnings, she said: "I'm not a very keen gardener and my garden resembles a rainforest at the moment, so I would like to pay someone to come in and do it."

She also told the show's host Bradley Walsh about her Baileys cupcake-making skills.

The two contestants that got through to the final chase answered 16 questions correctly, but even with getting four push-backs right, they were also caught with seconds to spare.

The Beast commented that if they had one more player, they would have walked away with the £32,000 jackpot they had gathered between them.

Speaking to the Advertiser after the show, Ms Stewart said: "I really enjoyed the experience of being on The Chase - the production team and the other contestants were great.

"I thought I had some pretty tough questions and the Beast proved to be a formidable opponent.

"Unfortunately, nerves got the better of me and I'm disappointed I didn't bring home any winnings - but I’m very happy to have taken part.

"Being up against The Chaser is definitely very different from watching at home.

"The experience has whetted my appetite to participate in more quiz shows - so I am planning to apply to more."

Previously, Ms Stewart took part in a radio quiz Big Town Showdown on Heart FM where she came forth in the series for Redditch.
