A FRIENDLY group of Redditch bikers have raised more than £600 for the Rory the Robot appeal which aims to improve the county’s treatment of cancer.

RMT Motorcycle Training and Riders Club recently organised a charity ride to the Cotswolds to raise funds for the appeal, looking to raise £1.6 million for a state-of-the-art surgical robot to treat patients with prostate cancer across Worcestershire.

The group organises a yearly motorcycle charity ride to support different charities that help the community and have an impact on people’s lives.

Simon Hayes, from RMT, said: “This was a great turn out of bikers with very short notice.

"Some of the riders have been supporting us for many years, without their continued support we would not be able to raise the funds that we do for these great charities that play a fantastic role."

The ride covered more than 100 miles and went through villages in the Cotswolds.

Each biker donated £10 on the day.

Mr Hayes added: “The charity is close to the hearts of all the staff of RMT Motorcycle Training, having lost a good friend and an avid biker to prostate cancer.

“These events are about giving something back to organisations and individuals that do fantastic things for people in need and who work tirelessly to help us and our families all year round."

RMT will shortly be fundraising for Acorns Children’s Hospice in December.
