A NEW sensory play group at Batchley Community Centre for parents and children in Redditch will be starting again every Friday from September.
Messy Play provides a wide range of sensory experiences by allowing children to explore different textures and smells.
Jelly, flour, baked beans and mud are all used to encourage a type of sensory play which could be difficult for parents to provide at home.
It is designed to encourage exploration, imagination and independent thinking and aims to provide a fun way to play which has no ‘right or wrong’.
Helen Horton, Early Start development organiser, said: “We’ve been asked by lots of parents whether we can start a group on a Friday so we’re really excited to get going with the Messy Play. It’s important for children to learn through sensory play at a young age so this group can really help.”
Messy play is a group suitable for children up to four-years-old. Parents are advised to bring a change of clothes for their child.
The sessions will cost £2 and will run for an hour from 9.30am until 10.30am every Friday.
Messy Play will take place on a weekly basis from September 11 during term time.
