STAFF from the housekeeping and estates teams at the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch have been awarded a Big Thank You in recognition of their fantastic contribution to the hospital and patients.

There are more than 140 staff across the two teams, providing a 24 hour service. Together, the teams are responsible for cleaning and maintenance and were nominated for their ongoing effort to improve the hospital environment.

Interim chief executive Chris Tidman surprised the teams by paying a visit on August 24 to thank staff personally for their commitment.

Mr Tidman said “Housekeepers and estates staff are an essential part of our hospital team. On behalf of the board, I’d like to thank you for your hard work and let you know how much you are appreciated.

“We rely on your work to provide well maintained, clean and safe patient areas. The hospital environment was assessed as part of our CQC inspection, so we know that there was pressure on housekeepers and estates staff, and we’re grateful for your support.

“Well done and keep up the great work.”

Housekeeper from MAU ward, Linda Roe, said “It was a nice surprise to receive this thank you. Sometimes we feel our work can go unnoticed, though we still carry on working hard regardless. It is nice to be appreciated.”

The Big Thank You is an internal scheme to recognise staff for their outstanding contribution and hard work. The monthly award recognises frontline staff, and gives them the opportunity to meet with senior managers informally.
