IT’S Friday and the weekend is here.

But for those heading off south east on the M40, two lanes are closed and traffic is queuing due to emergency repairs on the southbound carriageway after a serious vehicle fire overnight.

Lanes one and two remain closed between M42 J3A and J15 A46 / A429 (Longbridge Island/Warwick) while repair work is carried out.

Other ongoing roadworks and congestion spots to note include: A456 Coventry Street in Kidderminster, where temporary lights are being used at the Leswell Lane junction.

The M5, Worcestershire, J4 A38 (Lydiate Ash) where there are narrow lanes and a speed restriction of 40 mph due to roadworks to improve the junction and traffic movement around the island.

There’s also heavy traffic on the M5 Northbound between J6 A449 / A4440 Warndon Way / A4538 Pershore Lane (Worcester) and J5 A38 (Droitwich / Wychbold); and on the M5 southbound between J3 A456 (Halesowen / Birmingham) and J5 A38 (Droitwich / Wychbold).

Traffic’s also queuing on the A456 Manor Way at Halesowen, westbound at A459 Grange Road / B4551 Grange Hill.

The A449 Chester Road North, Kidderminster, is busy but moving between A456 Birmingham Road (Land Oak traffic lights) and A451 Stourbridge Road (Rose Theatre mini roundabout).

There’s also queuing traffic on the A448 at Mustow Green, westbound, at the junction with the A450 Stourbridge Road.

And traffic is queuing on the A46 at Drayton, westbound between A422 Alcester Road and Croft Lane.
