HEART of Worcestershire College helped inspire young learners to pursue their dreams careers.

The college teamed up with Redditch Borough Council to host an event called Inspired to Work, which gave more than 1000 students the opportunity to talk to 26 exhibitors about their companies, the jobs they do and what skills and qualifications are needed to pursue a career in their respective fields.

Anne Daniel, head of marketing at the college, said: "Inspired to Work was a truly inspirational event that gave young people an opportunity to investigate career options and get involved in practical, memorable activities.

"We would like to thank all of the employers and schools who attended and helped to make this event a success."

Exhibitors at the event included the RAF, West Mercia Police, Barclays, Ascential Climbing, Mentor Link, All and Sundry, Art in Redditch, Kerwoods Law, the Outward Bound Trust, Brentknoll Veterinary Centre, Huntleys Funeral Services, Redditch Borough Council, BBE, Hayward and Wright Accountancy, Langdon Logictics, Young Enterprise, and author Jo Allmond.

The students also had the opportunity to explore the Science Dome, where watched a short film about the solar system.

Jane Potter, Redditch Borough Councillor, added:"We are very grateful to all the businesses that attended the event and explained their work to our young people.

"We really hope this event provides Redditch's young people with the inspiration and motivation to work hard at school so that they are able to get the jobs and careers they want when they leave school or college."

The event went ahead at the college's Redditch campus, in Peakman Street.
