A 42-year-old man is to stand trial on a charge of manslaughter after a woman died from injuries sustained in a Kidderminster flat fire.

Mark Moat will go before a jury in February next year after denying the manslaughter of Sandra Nowocinska, who died on December 1 in hospital after a fire engulfed her flat in the Horsefair shortly before 10pm on November 27.

Police are investigating a series of incidents at a Bromsgrove business premises, including thefts and a sexual assault.

The incidents all took place on Thursday, May 28.

The first incident, at the premises in Worcester Road, happened at 4.30pm. The offender, a man, engaged staff in conversation then proceeded to use a piece of paper to cover an unattended phone and steal it.

A 21-year-old has avoided time behind bars after knocking a man unconscious with a single blow outside a Sedgley wine bar.

Judge Amjad Nawaz told Reece Nightingale he had dealt with many cases in the past where one punch had “led to catastrophic consequences.”

The judge added at Wolverhampton Crown Court: “A moment of anger can lead to a lifetime of regret.”

Police are asking witnesses to a serious collision in Redditch to come forward.

The incident happened on the A441 Bordsley Lane, Redditch, on Friday, May 29, at around 12:45pm.

A red Citreon C4 travelling along the A441 from the roundabout heading towards Alvechurch and a blue Skoda Octavia travelling from the opposite direction onto the same roundabout, were in collision.

A drug dealer was collared when his stash floated to the surface of the canal he had just been pushed in by a policeman.

Darius Francis, aged 20, had bolted when approached by a plain clothes officer in Sainsbury's petrol station.

When eventually cornered on a towpath after a chase through Oldbury the police officer pushed Francis into the canal fearing he would have a gun pulled on him.
