A FECKENHAM man's death prompted the Worcestershire coroner to highlight the extreme dangers of drinking alcohol and taking cocaine at the same time.
At the opening of an inquest into the death of Robert Hadleigh, of High Street, Feckenham, coroner Victor Round told the Stourport court of the damage the drug and drink combination does to the body.
Mr Hadleigh was found dead in his garage on Tuesday, January 23 by his estranged wife, Kathleen Hadleigh, who had last seen him alive just a few days before.
A post mortem revealed the 41-year-old had low levels of paracetamol, aspirin and 51m/g of alcohol in his blood.
It also revealed he had cocaine in his body, and he had fluid on his lungs which was consistent with cocaine use.
Mr Round said: "Cocaine can cause heart damage, heart attacks and the lungs to malfunction."
Mr Hadleigh's family told Mr Round they had many unanswered questions regarding his death and did not want him labelled as a "junkie".
The case has been adjourned for a date to be fixed.
