HEART of Worcestershire College’s BTEC hospitality and catering students rolled out the red carpet and hosted their first Oscars-style themed night on Thursday, April 30.

Guests descended on Archers Restaurant in Peakman Street and enjoyed an evening of fine dining and live entertainment to help raise money for children’s cancer charity CLIC Sargent.

Guest Lynda Dicks, said: "Credit is due to all the students who put together the night. It was a wonderful evening, fantastic food and we really felt like celebrity’s walking the red carpet. Well done to all."

The students were responsible for all aspects of the night from preparing the food, organising the entertainment, decorating the venue and serving the food on the night.

Level 3 hospitality and catering student, Aaron Preece, said: "I enjoy my course because there are a lot of opportunities that are offered to you. I’ve only done one themed night and I feel like it went really well.

"We planned everything on our own which is excellent because it helps us be more independent."

So far the students have raised more than £210 but this is just the starter as students will continue to sell charity pins to fellow students and members of the public.
