ALCESTER and Stratford District Round Table has elected a new chairman following the organisation’s annual general meeting.

Paul Jackson, aged 33, who has been a member of the round table since 2010, took over the role from Richard Handy.

The meeting held at the Holly Bush, in Alcester, also appointed Luke Bull as vice-chairman and Howard Tinker as president.

Mr Jackson has lived in Alcester for eight years with his girlfriend, Claire, and son Sam.

He said: “2014 -2015 was a fantastic year for Alcester and Stratford District Round Table with many new members and some great activities including Scalextric, gin and whisky tasting and playing touch rugby at Twickenham”.

“More importantly, we played a real part in the local community, raising more than £8,000, a new record.

“We achieved this through our Santa runs, as well as holding pig roasts at the summer street market and St Nick’s Night to generate more funds”.

“2015-16 promises to be equally exciting with a varied programme planned and membership continuing to rise; two new members joined at the AGM.

“Round Table is all about fun and fellowship and there really is something for everyone in terms of events.”

Alcester Round Table is part of the international Round Table organisation which offers young men the chance to make new friends, try new experiences, and give something back to their local communities.
