MORE than 20,000 food and drink lovers are expected to flock to Alcester for the town’s annual spring food festival.

The free event will include more than 100 stalls lining the High Street offering a vast array of quality local produce.

Alcester Court Leet will be adding colour to the proceedings with their ceremonial mini-assizes which judge the quality of the meat, bread and ale on sale.

A cookery competition with limited entries will run in the newly refurbished Three Tuns in High Street.

This year’s theme is pork pate and entry forms and a set recipe can be obtained from the pub before 10am on the day of the festival. Judging will take place at 1pm.

A children’s cookery course will be held in Church House, near to St Nicholas’ Church.

A park and ride service will be in operation from the Seco Tools UK car park on Springfield Business Park in Alcester.

The event, organised by the Alcester and Forest of Arden Food Festival group, will run from 9am to 5pm on Saturday, May 16.
