A CARER accused of stealing jewellery and money from a vulnerable and disabled elderly couple in her care has appeared at Redditch Magistrates Court.

Jodie Canfield, aged 30, of Frankton Close, Redditch, appeared at court on Tuesday (April 21) accused of lifting items from Eleanor and Brian Cale’s home including an 18 carat gold bracelet and a gold and a black onyx gentleman’s ring.

She faces a total of five charges, including four of theft and one of conspiracy to conceal, disguise, convert, transfer or remove criminal property.

Angela Hallam, prosecuting, said: “These were vulnerable people targeted by the offender.”

The court heard Canfield, who gave no indication of her plea, was arrested following a police sting operation set up at the couple’s home.

She was given unconditional bail and will next appear at Worcester Crown Court for a plea and case management hearing on Monday, August 10.
