A Bromsgrove mother whose son is locked up in a Thai prison cell in horrendous conditions, says she had been overwhelmed by the support of townsfolk.

Lance Whitmore, originally from the town, has been locked up in the Klong Prem Prison in Thailand for the past eight months in a cramped, filthy cell designed to hold 20 people, but which is instead holding 78.

Lance's parents, Russ and Debbie Caswell, are now campaigning to help their son as fears grow for his deteriorating health and state of mind.

The British Heart Foundation is calling for Dudley residents to become Heart Heroes and use some of their spare time to volunteer for the nation’s heart charity.

People can help the charity fight against heart disease in a number of ways, including becoming a volunteer driver, working behind the till at a local BHF shop or doing administration work.

Police seized around 30 cannabis plants from a property in Woodgate Lane, Quinton, after energy company workers discovered them while working at the site on April 20.

It's the second cannabis seizure in the region within recent days after police discovered a drugs factory at a commercial unit in Hereward Rise on April 14.

A 'despicable' thief stole cash from an epileptic woman as she suffered a seizure on the floor of Stourbridge's Ryemarket.

The 48-year-old woman was shopping in the market on the afternoon of Tuesday, April 7, when she collapsed and began fitting violently.

Passers-by rushed to comfort the women and give first aid − but Dudley police believe one woman took advantage of the fallen shopper’s plight by reaching into her handbag and swiping £60 in cash.

And, Keith the Seal could be under threat from a new predator in Worcestershire waters - a shark.

The dorsal fin of a shark was spotted in the water of the river Stour about 20ft before it is joined by Hoo Brook south of Kidderminster by Tim Hebbert.

Or, could this fin be rubbish fly tipped into the river rather than the deadly animal which usually sticks to the ocean.
