THREE giant crosses were at the heart of a Good Friday service in Studley, attended by a large crowd.

The service, at Haye Pastures farm, in Mapplebrough Green, was conducted by reverend David Silvester, rector of the Arden Marches Group of Churches which includes Mappleborough and is part of a 20-year-old tradition.

It was organised by Jon and Muriel Richards, owners of Haye Pastures farm.

The larger central cross was carried by worshippers up the hill, to re-enact the steps of Jesus’ crucifixion, and put into place for the midday service which took place on Friday, April 3.

Hot cross buns were served with hot drinks after the service.

The crosses are illuminated at night.
