CHILDREN at Coughton CE Primary School in Alcester celebrated Easter in an egg-straordinary way.
Several weeks ago, dedicated assistant headteacher, Katie Langley bought seven chicken eggs for a school project and after keeping them in an incubator for twenty days, three of the them hatched.
Mrs Langley said: “The children have been extremely excited- we have had kids up and ready for school at 6am.”
The chicks were used for several educational activities, including during science week when the youngsters studied the life cycles.
They wrote reports and observed the chick embryos using a torch so they could see the hatchlings growing inside the eggs.
During their religious education classes the students have been by looking at the symbolism of eggs at Easter.
Throughout the project, the church of England primary school has been giving updates on the chicks’ progress via social media sites.
After the project, the fluffy new editions will be going to live with Mrs Langley who hopes to sell their eggs to raise the money needed to repeat the project next year.
