A LADIES night held at Alcester Town Hall raised more than £1,000 for charity.

The event was put on by Redditch Ladies Circle and Alcester and Stratford District Round Table.

The black tie dinner dance and silent auction was attended by members of the groups and guests.

Proceeds will be split between the British Heart Foundation, Macmillan Cancer Support and Touchstones, a local charity supporting young people who have suffered bereavement.

Richard Handy, Alcester and Stratford District Round Table chairman, said: “This was the first time we have run this event in conjunction with Redditch Ladies Circle and to have raised such a fantastic amount for charity is a testament to the efforts of members of both organisations.”

Fiona Bull, Redditch Ladies Circle chairman added: “The links between our circle and Alcester and Stratford District Round Table have grown closer after we jointly took Santa on his sleigh to visit Studley at Christmas and we are delighted to have further boosted the efforts of three charities which do so much good work.”

Donations for the auction came from No. 9 Church Street, Vinology, Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, the Crown and Thistle, the Roebuck, Hacienda Hair, the Moat House Inn, the Turk's Head and Mandia Spanish Restaurant.

Both organisations offer people aged 18 to 45 the opportunity to make new friends, take part in a variety of social activities and raise funds for local causes.
