A STUDLEY primary school held a week of activities to commemorate the reburial of King Richard III.
St Mary’s Catholic School held themed lessons, assemblies and projects exploring the king’s short reign and his death on Bosworth Battlefield in 1545.
Headteacher Owen Finnegan said: “The assistant head at the school, Mrs Tyrrell, a longstanding member of the Richard III society, was determined to redress the historical balance and give the children an unbiased account of Richard’s life which has unfortunately been skewed by historians and playwright William Shakespeare.”
During the week, the children had an opportunity to dress up in period costume to mark the ceremony for the king, which has been taking place in Leicester Cathedral today.
