TRIBUTES have been paid to the Bromsgrove man who died in a crash on the A441 Alvechurch Highway near Redditch.

James McGeown, aged 46, was killed when the blue Nissan Almera he was driving went across the central reservation and crashed into a lamppost at about 2.30pm on Tuesday, March 17.

Posting on the Advertiser Facebook page, Shell Watts said: “My dear friend James. Absolutely heartbroken you are taken from us in this awful way, you were the best friend I could have ever wished for. You party hard up there until we meet again. Love and miss you always.”

Graham Sharp added: “RIP James, gone too soon our friend. Thoughts are with your family.”

Mr McGeown, who lived at the Duke of York pub on Broad Street, was unconscious when ambulance crews arrived but went into cardiac arrest and died at the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "Advance life support continued on the man at the roadside but sadly, despite the team’s best efforts, nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed dead at the scene."
