CHILDREN at Vaynor First School took part in a week of science-related activities to celebrate British Science Week.

The event, which aims to celebrate British inventions from the past, present and future, was launched with a visit from Thinktank, a science museum based in Birmingham, followed by meetings with science ambassadors, a clinical biologist and a university lecturer.

During the event children studied past inventions including the telephone, coloured dye, hovercrafts and electricity.

On ‘Future Friday’ the children became inventors and designed their own invention based on what they were learning alongside a design for a new iphone application.

Parents were invited into school to take part in science workshops and learn alongside their children on Wednesday, March 11 and Saturday, March 14.
