A CHURCH Hill women is raising vital funds for Children’s Liver Disease Foundation (CLDF).

Becky Moore has chosen to raise the cash, via a static cycle ride, because the charity has supported her as well as her son, Scott, after he was diagnosed with a rare liver disease three years ago.

She will be cycling 903 miles, the distance from Land’s End to John O’Groats.

“I chose a static cycle challenge as I wanted to do a physical challenge and my back won’t stand the running so I thought this would be a good one to do,” said the 42-year-old.

“I started back in November and I have found it much harder than I thought, both from a mental and physical standpoint.

"It’s getting quite tough now – but doing it for CLDF, a charity which means a lot to us, has been a great motivator in getting me to the gym and onto my bike.

"I have also realised that I can do my knitting whilst doing it (something I’m sure I couldn’t do if I was doing it for real) and I have finished my first scarf along the way."

Becky is planning to complete her epic journey on March 6 which is Big Yellow Friday, the charity’s annual awareness and fundraising day.

CLDF chief executive, Alison Taylor, said: “CLDF takes action against childhood liver disease by providing information and emotional support, funds for research and a voice for all those affected.

"In order to do this however, we rely on community fundraising for the majority of our income which is why we’re delighted and very grateful that Becky has taken on this challenge for us.

"We really hope she completes her challenge on Big Yellow Friday as we have set ourselves a £100,000 target for the day and every penny counts.”
