BATCHLEY residents will soon be seeing more clearly in the dark thanks to street light improvements taking place from next week.
Residents on Foxlydiate Crescent and Hawthorne Road will be getting brand new street lighting to replace the current sodium ones.
Redditch Borough Council are working with Worcestershire County Council to install new LED fittings which use less energy but will provide improved lighting to the area.
The replacement works will take place from March 4 to 16 and will mean some disruption to access for some properties during this time.
The council has said that it is aiming to keep this to a minimum.
Guy Revans, head of environmental services, said: “Some residents have already contacted the council about the failing lights in this area so I am really pleased that we are replacing them with LEDs.
"Not only will this mean we’ll be helping the environment and saving money in the long run, it also – and more importantly – means the residents in the area can feel safer and more secure in their homes.”
Worcestershire County Council will be undertaking the work on behalf of Redditch Borough Council who own some of the street lights in this area.
