RESIDENTS in Alcester and the surrounding district are being informed about changes to waste collections over the festive period.

There will be no bin collection on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, December 25 and 26, or New Year’s Day, January 1.

Bin collections due on December 25 and 26, will instead be collected on Saturday, December 27.

The collections due on January 1 will instead be collected on Saturday, December 3.

The changes to refuse and recycling collections over the Christmas and New Year will only affect some households in the district.

As Alcester, Bidford and Studley's collections do not fall on Bank Holidays, the service should be unaffected.

Only properties due for a collection on these days will have the changed collection dates and two collections will be done in one to reduce the inconvenience.

Councillor Mike Brain, portfolio holder for Technical Services, said: “The way the Bank Holidays fall this year offers an opportunity to use an unusual solution to ensure residents have the least amount of disruption possible.”

For the last two years it has taken three weeks for collections to return to normal and every household has been affected.

All other collection dates are continuing as normal, with the week beginning  Monday, January 5.

In the event of adverse weather causing disruption to collections please visit Statford-on-Avon District Council’s website, www.stratford.gov.uk/winter or the Twitter StratfordDC for the latest updates.
