PUPILS from St Luke's first school have been planting for the future on Headless Cross Community Orchard.
The years two and three pupils have planted 2,200 spring flowering bulbs as part of their forest school lessons.
Helped by parents and orchard volunteers, the children planted British varieties of wild daffodil, snowdrops, bluebells, snakes head fritillary and star of Bethlehem.
Forest school leader Liz Jennings said "The children really enjoyed themselves and are looking forward to seeing the results of their hard work in the spring. This has been a great opportunity for them to get involved with creating a beautiful display in the local community."
The Community Orchard Group raised funds to provide the bulbs at their Apple Day in October.
The next events on the Headless Cross Orchard are Carols on The Green on Christmas Eve at 5pm
and the Wassail on January 10 at 7pm starting from The Rocklands Social Club. It is recommended people bring something to make some noise.
