ACORNS Children's Hospice is seeking dancers of all abilities and styles to take part in a dancing competition that it hopes will raise more than £20,000.

Keep Dancing for Acorns is a new event in the charity’s calendar held to raise funds to continue the charity’s work supporting life-limited and life-threatened children and their families across the Midlands.

Participant pairs will be offered free dance lessons ahead of a glamorous and glitzy evening of performances by competitors in February in front of a panel of judges.

The Great Hall at the University of Birmingham will be the exclusive venue for the fundraising event that will see all styles of dance performed in front of family, friends and charity supporters.

Ian Carr, Acorns events manager, said: “This is an exciting and fun new event in the Acorns fundraising calendar and the perfect opportunity for budding dancers of all abilities and styles to take to the floor.

“You don’t have to be Darcey Bussell or Fred Astaire to enter; Keep Dancing for Acorns is a chance to have a go at dancing and have some fun, while doing something amazing to support your local children’s hospice. It’s guaranteed to be a night you’ll remember forever.”

Participants will be offered two free dance lessons from a qualified dance teacher and the possibility of signing up for more.

Pairs will be required to raise a minimum of £500 funds for Acorns and sell 10 tickets.
