TRINITY High School held a’ Lest We Forget’ concert and tea party at the school to commemorate the fallen and mark the centenary of the First World War.

Members of the community, parents, grandparents and relatives of students attended and joined with in with this act of remembering.

Refreshments were made by catering students and the entertainment was provided by year 11 and 13 drama students, whilst year 11 music students also contributed their own interpretations of classic songs.

A range of performances, including a rousing version of You Are My Sunshine and a spine-tingling interpretation of a scene from the classic play and film Oh! What a Lovely War were enjoyed by all, adding to the atmosphere of such a special occasion.

Both brought generations together through song and performance, with all being locked together in remembrance.

Aside from the thought-provoking speeches and performances, tea and cakes were served in antique crockery, in a truly authentic environment. Some students’ grandparents came to enjoy the afternoon, with many bringing pictures of loved ones who had been involved in conflicts past and present.

A school spokesman said: "It was a most enjoyable and poignant afternoon for all concerned and something that Trinity is planning to make an annual event."
