PICTURESQUE Feckenham village is about to be invaded, as its time for the 10th annual Feckenham scarecrow festival on Saturday and Sunday, October 18 and 19.

Villagers have been asked to have a bit of fun by manufacturing the most frightening, funny or downright ridiculous scarecrows ever seen.

Visitors can enjoy a stroll around the Scarecrow Trail starting at the The Square and free maps will be available to guide people. Visitors can vote for their favourite scarecrow and prizes will be awarded on Sunday at 4.30pm on The Square.

Several scarecrows will come to life to serve tasty home made teas on the picturesque village green, younger visitors can“Stone the Crows” and Feckenham’s only walking, talking, living scarecrow, Willum the Conker, will be on hand to entertain.

The event is free. Cash taken at the tea tent will help cover the festival costs and if there is any excess it’ll be ploughed back into more village events. Feckenham Entertainments Committee, which organises the scarecrows, feels that sometimes it’s good for a community just to do something for the sheer, simple enjoyment of doing it.

The trail will be open from 11.30am to 4.30pm on both days.

For those coming by car Winfields Megastore, Astwood Lane B96 6HQ has kindly opened its car park extension for free.
