THE family of a mother who was murdered in Redditch earlier this year have paid tribute to her, describing her as a beautiful, vivacious and popular person who was extremely caring.

Kirsty Wright, a 21-year-old mum of one, was 13 weeks pregnant with her second child when she was stabbed by her partner, Akeel Hussain, at a property in Evesham Road, Redditch on March 15, 2014.

Miss Wright was taken to hospital, but died of her injuries the next day.

Hussain, aged 30, of Pembroke Croft, Birmingham was sentenced at Worcester Crown Court on Monday, September 29, to life imprisonment for Miss Wright's murder. He must serve a minimum of 19 years before he can be considered for release.

He had initially denied murder, but later entered a guilty plea.

A family tribute was released by the victim's parents on Tuesday, September 30.

In it, they said: "We are truly devastated by the loss of Kirsty and her death is something that we will never come to terms with, it has ripped our family apart.

"Kirsty was so excited about becoming a mother for the second time and she was a wonderful and devoted mother to her two-year-old son; they adored each other and were inseparable.

"We will do our best to ensure he can go on to live a happy, normal childhood and when he is old enough to understand the tragic way his mother died, we will support him.”
