WITNESSES to a "cowardly attack" on a young woman in Redditch on Sunday, September 21 are being sought by police.

The victim, a 20-year-old women from Redditch, was in Fever Nightclub in Redditch when she was approached by an unknown man. They briefly interacted before he punched her at around 2am, inside the club.

The victim left the night club and later encountered the same man as she was walking through Church Green towards the taxi rank on Unicorn Hill. The suspect shouted abuse of a discriminatory nature at the victim and assaulted her again, causing her to fall to the floor. During the attack, the victim felt repeated blows to the head and body and was dragged across the road by her arm.

The second assault lasted around five-10 minutes. During this time it is thought that there were multiple people around waiting for taxis or walking by.

A police spokesman said “This is a cowardly, unprovoked attack in a public place. During both of the attacks many members of the public were present, both in the club and outside on the street. We are desperately urging them to come forward."
