A CHURCH Hill North woman is doing her own “£2014 Fundraising Challenge” to raise money for the RSPCA Birmingham Animal Centre.

Helen Tuite, who used to work at the animal centre, is taking part in 14 events in 2014 to try and raise £2,014.

The events include triathlons, half marathons and even tough muddy events.

Her last three events were the infamous 10k Wolf Run, which is a muddy obstacle course, the Lichfield Triathlon and the Lake Vyrnwy half marathon in Wales.

She has completed nine events so far, and has got five more to go, the last one being the Great Birmingham Run on October 19.

Last month she worked for Charles Grosvenor Ltd in Web Heath which specialise in loft conversions, staircases and UPVC windows and doors.

The firm has offered to support Helen in her fundraising challenge.

Russell Annis, from the firm, said: “We are all animal lovers here, so therefore didn’t hesitate to support Helen when she told us what she was doing to raise money for the animals at the local RSPCA centre in Birmingham.

Being a dog owner myself, I know how important it is to be a responsible pet owner.”

Speaking about the challenge Helen said: “At the start of this year, I couldn’t even swim a whole length of crawl, and now I’m doing triathlons, some of which include swimming in lakes.

"I am so grateful to Charles Grosvenor Ltd for supporting me with my challenge. I have raised approximately £1,400 so far, but I am still hoping to raise the rest with the help of the local community."
