YOUNGSTERS in Alcester marked the end of their summer theatre workshop by presenting a performance to friends, family, local councillors and the wider community.

The show called ‘A Day at the Fair’, took place on Monday, August 1 at the Jubilee Centre.

Yvonne Hine, Alcester’s mayor and town councillor praised the concert, she said: “Thank you Innov8te and all at Alcester Children’s Activities for a great performance this afternoon at the Jubilee Centre.”

The sessions were put on by Warwickshire County Council's Innov8te Performance Arts Group and organised by Alcester Children's Activities.

Educational theatre sessions ran every Monday starting July 28 until August 25 with the last class taking place on Friday, August 29.

They were open to children aged eight to 11-years-old.

The scheme, funded by the National Lottery’s Awards for All, was created following a request from young people to learn about the performing arts as many unable to access expensive theatre schools.

Two coaches Be Me Arts and We Can Create worked together to support the 40 children who took part in the class.

The next event organised by Alcester Children's Activities will be Alcester’s Got Talent taking place on Sunday, September 21 the Jubilee Centre. Entries should be submitted by September 14 to alcesterchildrensactivities@hotmail.co.uk.

First prize is a £20 Argos gift voucher.
