CELEBRATIONS took place at Redditch Sainsbury's store as the town branch of the Citizens Advice Bureau marked the 75th anniversary of the national advice organisation.
This anniversary was a part of a national event to celebrate the founding of the CAB services across the nation. The CAB was established in 1939 as a public service providing information and advice through local volunteers to local people who were experiencing rapid changes resulting from Britain at war.
The service was continued after 1945 to the present day through public demand for independent, impartial and confidential advice and advocacy.
A spokesman said: "Our campaign in this anniversary year is 'Free advice makes society better' to raise awareness of the need to continue free public access to CAB advice in the future for new generations facing challenges and difficulties that are often overwhelming.
"Without public support and funds local CAB services may be lost so we are asking people to sign up to our campaign to keep public access to CAB Advice."
