A REDDITCH man has denied causing the death by dangerous driving of a rugby referee.
John Shaw, aged 60, of The Meadway, is accused of causing the death of David Smith while at the wheel of a Jaguar F type in Pershore Lane, near Junction 6 of the M5 at Worcester, on October 12 last year.
Shaw, who appeared before Worcester Crown Court, is due to stand trial on April 14 and a condition of his bail in the meantime is that he does not drive.
Mr Smith, from Sutton Benger in Wiltshire, died after his black Volkswagen Golf was in a collision on his way to be an assessor at the National Three South West match between Worcester Wanderers and Newton Abbot at Sixways Stadium, Worcester.
He was president of the Somerset Rugby Football Union.
