STUDENTS at St Benedict’s Catholic High School in Alcester celebrated their ‘impressive’ International Baccalaureate Diploma results last month.

Best performing pupils Eddie Charles and Simon Wyatt both scored 41 points, placing them in the top four per cent of the word and giving them the equivalent of four and half A* grades at A-level.

Eddie, who has now confirmed his place at Warwick University, said: “This opens so many opportunities that A-levels could not.”

Hannah Hendry achieved 40 points and she will now be moving on to study at Oxford University.

Maddy Sara who gained 39 points is to attend Russell Group University in Exeter following her results.

Retiring head of sixth form Alex Hendry, said: “Our students can face their next step with confidence. In an increasingly inter-dependent world they know exactly how they compare with young people all over the globe.

“They have developed the abilities and work ethic to be successful at university and in work. All of our students go into an increasingly technological world with pre-university Mathematics, Science qualifications and a second language as part of their academic profile.”

St Benedict’s is the only sixth form school offering the IB Diploma in South Warwickshire.

Applications are being considered for September 2014 with an open evening planned for Tuesday, November 18.

Students from Evesham and Redditch in Worcestershire are considered as part of the catchment area for the school.
