THE new Astwood Smiles Nursery in Astwood Bank has only been open for a month but has already been given the seal of approval by Redditch MP Karen Lumley.

Mrs Lumley visited the nursery after being invited by owners, Olivia and Mark Waters, to have a tour of the state-of-the-art facility which includes a brand new library, the latest IT equipment including iPads for use by the children, CCTV, finger print technology for visitor entry, air-conditioning throughout and I-boards, which will be arriving soon.

Mrs Waters said: “Karen Lumley champions new business in the Redditch area and we’re extremely proud of the nursery that we’ve created here in Astwood Bank and wanted her to see for herself the opportunities that we are providing for the children that come here, their parents and our staff.”

Once the nursery is at full capacity it will employ up to 25 members of staff, from newly qualified childcare professionals to experienced management, and Mrs Waters is hoping to take on apprentices in 2015.

Mrs Lumley said: "Astwood Smiles Nursery is a vibrant new business in the heart of the local community, creating an inspiring environment for children to begin their early years’ education, as well as boosting employment in the area. It’s great to see what has been created by Olivia and her team, especially the extensive library, and I look forward to seeing the development of Astwood Smiles for years to come.”
