TEENAGERS from Redditch and Bromsgrove held two fundraising events and raised more than £600 for local charities Kemp Hospice and Primrose Hospice.

The team of 14 are from Engage for life, a government funded scheme for youths as a part of the National Citizen Service (NCS).

The NCS programme is open to all 16 and 17-year-olds and was set up by the government to help young people develop greater confidence, self-awareness and responsibility skills which can be used for work and life.

They held a family fun day at Stoke Prior Sports & Country Club on Sunday, August 17 where four live acts performed.

The event entertainment included; a bouncy castle, a raffle, face painting, tombola and a book stall.

The group also took part in a fundraising event at Asda in Kidderminster where they managed to raise £216 by helping people to pack their shopping.

Katie Willington, fundraising assistant at the primrose trust, said: “We were delighted to hear that the National Citizen Service programme had chosen Primrose Hospice to support. It is fantastic for local, community projects to be seen supporting their local hospice. Thank you for all your hard work and support.”

Paige Foster, the group’s supervisor, said: “My team have felt very strongly with the charities they have raised money for and I am very proud of them all. I have watched them develop and grow along the journey and believe they are a credit to me and also themselves.”

All proceeds will be split 50/50 between the two charities.
