THIS year marks the 40th Anniversary of Alcester Male Voice Choir and to celebrate the group is hoping to reach 100 members.

The choristers will host their annual recruitment evening where they aim to enlist the new members.

There is no audition process but members are asked to commit to weekly rehearsals on a Wednesday evening.

The singers often perform for various charities and organisations to help them raise much need funds.

Judith Land, choir founder and director of music, said: “we are a large, busy and successful choir with an excellent reputation both locally and further afield.

“I have always hoped to achieve a membership of 100 and if we could achieve that this September then it would make this special year complete.

“I encourage gentlemen interested to come along for a few taster evenings and experience singing a variety of songs, the camaraderie and the ambience of our rehearsals.

“One gentlemen came along recently and by the end of the evening he felt compelled to join us that evening as this was the sort of choir and music he had been looking for"

The recruitment evening will take place on Wednesday, September 10 at 7.30pm at The Jubilee Centre in St Faiths Road, Alcester.
