REDDITCH families are invited to have fun in a wildlife discovery session at Arrow Valley Country Park.

Staff and volunteers from Worcestershire Wildlife Trust are encouraging local families to join in and find out more about the wonderful wildlife on their doorstep.

The day includes a range of drop-in activities that will inspire children to get up close with nature.

Deborah Richardson Bull, education officer for the Trust, said: “We run a series of popular activities throughout the school holidays that usually take place on our nature reserves.  This year we’re bringing some of our wildlife fun to Redditch.

"There’s an increasing disconnection between children and our fantastic natural environment so this is a great opportunity for families to come outside and see what it’s all about."

The activities begin at 10.30am and families are invited to turn up at any time to get involved.  Families can hunt for minibeasts and discover more about life in miniature, work out how to identify different trees, try their hand at wildlife crafts and more.

The officer added: "The day promises to a fun-packed day for all the family and will hopefully encourage everyone to realise that nature is all around us – you don’t have to go to a nature reserve to discover wildlife."

The activities will be taking place at Arrow Valley Country Park between 10.30am and 1pm.  All activities are provided free of charge but donations will be welcomed.
