AN evening of comedy organised by Redditch Council’s mayor is set to raise the roof – and cash for charity

Councillor Pat Witherspoon is hosting a ‘Ship of Fools’, a performance which pulls together the best bits of the locally renowned Stand Upstairs series.

Compered by Ant Hill, the event will raise money for the mayor’s charities, which are Friends of Redditch and the borough’s Mental Health Action Group (MHAG), as well as publicising the subject of mental health.

Coun Witherspoon said: “Mental health is a subject which is often taboo but I want to raise the profile of the subject.

“It’s important we realise how it affects many people within our community including those who have dementia, anxiety and other illnesses but also the impact it has on their family and friends.
