A FREE exhibition in commemoration of the First World War is now open in Alcester.

Throughout August many years of research will be on show at Globe House.

The displays will include a poem by a military man which has only ever been read by his family.

Families’ letters, pictures and artefacts previously hidden away will now be rediscovered.

On Friday, September 5 an illustrated talk on the town before, during and after the Great War will be held in the Jubilee Centre at 7pm.

Tickets cost £5. To book contact 01789 766753 or visit the Globe House reception.

The money raised will be used to help pay for the Jubilee Centre car park to be resurfaced.
