RESIDENTS recently enjoyed a great time celebrating Woodrow’s annual community summer fun day.

The day was planned by Woodrow Library and What’s Your Point youth and community group with support from councillors Patti Hill, Andy Fry and Rebecca Blake, local police and St John.s Church.

Funding for the project came from Couns Hill and Fry, St John's Church and Woodrow Library.

Free activities included making and planting flower pots, bird houses and wind chimes, face painting by award winning artist Helen Elvins of Faces Unlimited, the chance to look at and interact with animals from Creepy Encounters, a bouncy slide and more.

There was also the chance to look around The Mobile Museum as well as speak to representatives from the county’s adult learning team, Redditch Council's tenancy team, Children’s Centre staff, What’s Your Point, health trainers, police cadets and others.

A new addition to this year's fun day was a variety of stalls selling home made goods ranging from candles and vases to popcorn and candy floss. All stalls were run by local people run their own businesses.

Stephanie Edkins, Woodrow Library manager, said: “As always, the community came out in force to support us and were able to take advantage of the free activities on offer as well as taking the opportunity to speak to representatives from many of our partner agencies who were on hand to offer information, support and guidance.

"We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone that came out and contributed towards creating and enhancing the wonderful community spirit in Woodrow.”
