SKUNKS, parrots, ferrets, meerkats, skinny pigs, raccoons and many more will be on show at the Exotic Pet Awareness Day in Portway, near Wythall, this August.
The Birmingham and Solihull Bees Rugby Club plays host to this unique event, now in its sixth year, which will see experienced exotic pet keepers sharing their unusual animals with the public.
The day is about dispelling myths and promoting good welfare. Visitors can get up close and meet an array of exotic pets gaining first-hand advice from their owners. It is a strictly no animal for sale event and is all about awareness and welfare. Kids get in for free!”
Stuart Short, regular animal man on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch, is special guest host of the educational talk area.
The visiting skunks will be competing for the second year in the only UK pet skunk show. Slipmat the famous World Cup African grey parrot from Worcester will also be there whistling the theme tune of the Great Escape.
Talks from guest speakers on the day include tiger conservation, living with Slipmat a famous parrot, a history of tenrecs, and exotics in veterinary science.
Birmingham & Solihull Bees Rugby Club is situated in Forshaw Heath Lane, Portway B94 5LH.
The event on Sunday, August 3, runs from 10am until 4pm, and admission is £3 for adults, with children under 16 admitted free.
