MEMBERS of a ladies gym in Redditch teamed up with staff to run in a number of Race for Life events last month.

Sue Aravanis, an instructor at Gymophobics in Redditch, headed a team which took part in the Stratford-upon-Avon race on June 1. Sue’s Angels raised an impressive £1,080, from sponsorship and donations.

Gymophobics manager, Louise Walker, saw her team The Mad Hatters race to victory at Solihull on June 22. Despite being a very hot day, the 10 gym members who took part not only completed the race but all achieved a personal best time and raised £1,140.

Members of the gym also took part in the Redditch Race for Life, selling official Cancer Research UK pink gerbera flowers to people attending the event. This took the total money raised by Gymophobics to £3,000.

Gymophobics owner Zoe Cooke said: "Everyone thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the events and we were delighted with the total amount raised for Cancer Research UK."
