ROYALTY came to Redditch this week when Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal officially opened two academies.

Previously known as Princess Anne, HRH formally opened RSA Academy Arrow Vale and Ipsley CE RSA Academy.

During the visit, to Arrow Vale first, the Princess was greeted by the Lord Lieutenant of Worcestershire Lt. Col. Patrick Holcroft before having a tour of the building and unveiling a commemorative plaque.

She was introduced to Redditch MP Karen Lumley as well as staff, governors and students and watched a dance drama, Disco Inferno, performed by students.

While at the academy she was also presented with a special piece of artwork by student Demi Rutherford.

Afterwards, she travelled to nearby Ipsley Academy.

Assistant principal of Arrow Vale Bernadette Pettman said: "This is a great honour for both academies, as HRH, as president of the RSA, personally decides which engagements she will attend."
