POLICE want help from the public to identify the owner of a dog who bit and injured a young in Redditch on Friday, July 11.

The incident happened at about 3.15pm when the girl, who is three years of age, had been walking through the centre with her sister when she approached the dog and suffered injuries to her face.

The dog had been tied up outside a chemist in the Matchborough Centre and has been described as looking like a grey hound or a whippet, possibly white or grey in colour and is believed to be quite old.

The police urgently need to speak with the owner as part of their enquiries. The owner has been described as being a man in his late 60 or 70s, of large build and wearing smart grey trousers and a light coloured light weight jacket. The owner had refused to give his details and fled the scene.

The police would like to speak with anyone who witnessed the attack, has anyone information or knows the owner. They should call West Mercia Police on 101, quoting incident number 0714S of July 11.
