AS Brownies across the country celebrate their 100 year Birthday, Redditch youngsters joined together with more than 700 other Brownies from across Worcestershire to take part in a mass sleepover at the Three Counties Showground, Malvern.

There was a blur of yellow and brown as the girls took part in an action packed programme of indoor and outdoor activities including a woodland challenge and making finger puppets.

Other activities included waddling around like penguins and having a singsong around the campfire before listening to a bedtime story.

The girls and leaders from units in Church Hill, Headless Cross and Ipsley had an amazing time making new friends and enjoying new experiences and are looking forward to the next celebration.

Also part of the 100th anniversary celebrations Brownies in Redditch enjoyed a circus skills workshop recently.

Brownies aged seven-10 from the 2nd Crabbs Cross (St Peters) and 7th Redditch (Emmanuel) units took part in lessons provided by Dippy The Clown in order to gain their circus skills badge.

The girls learned how to juggle, spin a diablo, balance feathers, walk on pedal racers and balance spinning plates. The brownies earned a special 100 year circus skills badge to commemorate the Big Brownie Birthday.

More volunteers are currently needed to help with Brownies in the Redditch area. People can register interest at girlguiding.org.uk.
