HUNDREDS of local people flocked to Arrow Valley Country Park on Sunday for the Lions Club fun day and Redditch Council's Green Day.

The Redditch Lions organised a vintage and classic car show and some local car dealerships exhibiting their motors.

The Lions also had a pitch selling popcorn and a tombola for cuddly furry lions.

The Lions' main event of the day was the first ever Cadet Challenge during which local cadets challenged each other for a trophy shield. Teams from the Army, Air Training Corps, Sea Scouts and Young Firefighters Association, devised their own challenge for themselves and the opposition which they had to complete in a given time. teams to complete within a given time.

In the end, the ATC 216 Squadron secured the trophy which was presented to them by Redditch mayor Pat Witherspoon and the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Worcestershire, Patricia Bradley.

A spokesman said: "The event proved an exciting addition to the Green Fair and, judging by the enthusiasm of the cadets taking part, it will become an annual event."
