AN artist who has produced a watercolour painting celebrating the architectural heritage of Alcester is having his work displayed in a town centre cafe.

Illustrator Mark Baker arranged the display with Chris Shipley, the proprietor of Coffee@26 on Alcester High Street, and has fine art limited edition prints of his painting available for sale.

He said: “I studied art at Cheltenham, and graduated in design at De Montfort University. And ever since, I have enjoyed painting with watercolours because of their freshness and unpredictability.

“As a resident of Alcester for 12 years, I love the character of the place. ‘Spirit of Alcester’ is a watercolour painting that celebrates the architectural heritage of the town.”

Mr Baker is currently participating in the Warwickshire Open Studios Summer Event, as one of 300 artists throwing open their doors to the public. He and three other artists will be showing their work at The Art Barn, near Chipping Campden until July 13.
