RESIDENTS are being urged to think about their home security following an attempted burglary at a home in Walkwood Road, Redditch.

It happened on Friday, June 20 at 1am.

Neighbours were alerted when they saw flash lights in a nearby garden and heard a lot of noise.

The offenders attempted to enter the rear of the property through a window but did not gain entry. It is believed that they were disturbed by a dog barking.

The local residents did not gain an accurate description of the offenders but believe the offenders made their exit via Bilbury Close after they were disturbed.

Approximately £2,000 worth of damage was caused to the window.

This incident reminds us how important it is for local people to ensure their doors and windows are shut and locked before they go out.

Detective Constable Stuart Mitchinson said: “We would like to hear from anyone who may have seen or heard the disturbance at 1am on Friday, June 20, or who thinks they may know who the offenders are.

"Extra security lighting around the home which comes on automatically when it detects movement can help deter would-be criminals, and residents are reminded to keep side gates bolted to prevent burglars gaining access to the rear of the property.

Witnesses or anyone with information are asked to contact the police on 101, quoting incident 0042S of June 20 2014, or call the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555111.
